About Byron Bay
The Byron Shire is situated on NSW's Far North Coast. The Tweed, Lismore and Ballina Local Government Areas share borders with the Byron Shire. Brisbane is 200 kilometres north, and Sydney is 800 kilometres south.
The Shire covers 556 square kilometres and is known for its bucolic beauty and coastlines.
The projected resident population of the Byron Shire in 2020 is 35,773, with a population density of 63.13 people per square kilometre.
Byron Bay is a popular tourist site, with over 1 million tourists each year. The Shire's primary source of funding is tourism, which brought in $380 million in 2011. The retail market, healthcare amenities and spas, housing, restaurants and cafés, infrastructure, and development all have a significant impact on tourism in the Shire. Agricultural and allied value-added and creative sectors are key parts of the region's economy.
Living in Byron Bay — the cheerful hippie town — offers culture, music, and ocean views where residents are always within steps of the seaboard for surfing and recreation.

Backloading is the single biggest way to lower the cost of a long-distance move. Whenever we have a truck heading to Byron Bay for another job, we offer the spare truck space at a sharply reduced rate. The catch: backloading rates depend on truck availability and direction, so the more flexible you are with your move date, the cheaper your quote.

FAQs — Sydney to Byron Bay Removalists
How long does the move take?
The drive itself is around 9 hour drive north. Same-day unload is possible for shorter routes (under 4 hours each way). Longer hauls usually involve a next-day or two-day unload with an overnight stop for the crew.
When do I have to pay?
A $100 deposit secures your booking. The balance is settled when the truck arrives at the destination, before unload begins. Bank transfer, card or cash all work.
Do you charge for cancellations?
Cancellations more than 48 hours before the booked move date are free. Cancellations within 48 hours forfeit the $100 deposit. Move-day cancellations forfeit the deposit plus a half-day truck callout.
Are my belongings insured during the trip?
Yes. Every long-haul move is covered by transit insurance as standard. For especially high-value items (artworks, antiques, instruments) we recommend declaring them at quote stage so we can confirm the cover level applies.
