Southern Sydney splits neatly into two distinct sub-regions with quite different moving challenges. The St George area — Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, and Kingsgrove — is an established medium-density corridor along the Illawarra rail line. You'll find predominantly brick homes from the 1950s–1980s, flat residential blocks that are generally good for truck access, and a growing wave of new apartment complexes along Forest Road and near Hurstville Station. Moving in this corridor is efficient — our trucks can usually park directly out front of most homes.
The Sutherland Shire is a different beast. Sutherland, Miranda, Caringbah, and Cronulla are predominantly free-standing brick homes on hilly terrain, particularly as you head south and east towards Cronulla Peninsula and the Royal National Park boundary. Cronulla is the eastern extremity: a beach suburb on a narrow strip of land flanked by Port Hacking and the ocean, where streets like Gerrale Street and Kingsway get permit-only parking on weekends and the approach roads off Kingsway can jam in summer. We avoid weekend Cronulla beach-zone starts where possible — or charge a small waiting buffer if access is unpredictable.
Princes Highway is the main artery through the region, and the King Georges Road / Stoney Creek Road junction near Hurstville is one of southern Sydney's most consistent traffic choke points during morning peak. We plan start times carefully for inter-regional moves to avoid the Princes Highway crawl — an early start saves you 30–45 minutes of billable time on a move from Rockdale or Kingsgrove to anywhere further south.
Hurstville and Kogarah have seen significant high-density apartment construction along Forest Road, MacMahon Street, and near Kogarah Station. These buildings often have narrow car park entries and small lifts that won't take larger furniture.
